11 Jun 2017 - 15:50

MNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed Iran's willingness to cooperate with Austria, confirming that the Islamic Republic holds the highest level of brokering ties with Vienna in EU.

"The actions of extremist groups have nothing to do with any of the religions in the world; terrorism is a global threat concerning many countries," Austrian Federal Minister of Finance Hans Jörg Schelling, who heads a delegation of senior financial and economic officials in Iran, said in a meeting with Foreign Minister Zarif on Sunday, condemning Tehran's twin terrorist attack.

Noting Tehran-Vienna ties, Schelling underlined that Austria is seeking to deepen bilateral relations with Iran, particularly in the economic and financial sectors, adding economic activities are the intersection of cooperation between the two countries.

He reaffirmed that Austrian government has recently quadrupled bank warranties and investment with Iran to develop relations between the two countries and expressed Austria's willingness for educational cooperation in banking field.

He expressed hope that the successful trip would lead to principal agreements on investment and taxation.

"Relations with Austria, especially after the implementation of JCPOA, has enjoyed progresses to the extent that during the first term of President Rouhani his Austarian counterpart was the first to pay a visit to the Islamic Republic," said zarif noting the good relations between the two countries.

Zarif, while expressing gratitude on Austra's sympathy and stressing the need to combat terrorism, underlined that Takfiri terrorism threatens all countries in the region and needs collective cooperation of all countries to be destroyed.
