Judiciary chief urges to elect a president to disappoint enemies

16 May 2017 - 16:51

IRNA -- Judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani on Monday called on the Iranians to elect a president in the upcoming elections who will disappoint the enemies.

“We, as the (Iranian) nation, have a duty to disappoint the enemy and therefore the amount of enemy’s dissatisfaction from the election of a candidate can be a very good criterion for distinguishing the most qualified candidate,” Ayatollah Larijani said.

The Ayatollah expressed certainty that the Iranian nation will create an epic on the Election Day slated for May 19.

The Judiciary chief urged all the Iranian people to rush to ballot boxes to help defend the country’s might and security and dash the hopes of the enemies.

Ayatollah Larijani regretted that some of the candidates acted in their presidential campaign as if they are the establishment’s opposition, noting, 'Certainly such an act runs contrary to national interests.”

Referring to recent remarks by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei who warned that the main goal of the enemy is to disrupt the country’s order, Ayatollah Larijani voiced the Judiciary’s readiness to stand forcefully against any actions threatening Iran’s national security.
