IRNA- A Spanish communications professor has appreciated women’s role in Iranian cinema, saying that the role is distinguished and unprecedented.

“Women in Iran’s cinema have succeeded in manifesting their artistic capabilities even better than men,' said Professor Carmen Perez, head of Communications School of Complutense University of Madrid in a conference titled 'Representation of Gender in Iran’s Cinema”'.

In her remarks on Monday, she also appreciated Iranian filmmaker Ms. Narges Abyar as an honorary guest of the university.

Ms. Abyar has directed a succesful movie called Track 143 (Shyar 143) about the heroic defence of Iranians against the aggression of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein on Iran.

The meeting at the two-day conference was attended by Iranian Cultural Attache in Madrid Ali Reza Ismaili, some university lecturers and authorities of the Complutense University, students interested in Iran’s cinema, as well as Ms. Abyar.

Ismaili introduced Ms. Abyar as an exemplary woman active in cinema in the Islamic Republic of Iran, whose works have won numerous awards in local and international festivals.
