Commander: IRGC plans to develop defense ties with friendly states

30 Apr 2017 - 18:00

FNA- Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour underlined the IRGC's willingness to reinvigorate defense relations with friendly states.

"The IRGC Ground Force enjoys desirable deterrence power to prevent war and it has the necessary defense power to give a response to any threat and we believe that this defense power can be at the service of all oppressed and Muslim nations of the world," General Pakpour said, addressing the foreign countries' military attaches in Tehran on Sunday.

"The IRGC Ground Force is ready to develop and strengthen its defensive and military relations with all friendly and peace-seeking countries across the world," he added.

In relevant remarks in 2015, a senior IRGC commander said that the regional countries are using Iran's experiences during the 8-year Iraqi-imposed war (1980-1988), warning that the enemies are countering this role-playing of Iran through helping Takfiri groups.

Today "the same role-model and methods that were used by the Iranian soldiers during the 8-year sacred defense (in the 1980s) are being used in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon and thanks God, they have led to victory", Commander of the IRGC Ground Forces Quds Base Brigadier General Mohammad Marani said at the time.

"The enemies have today targeted this model and have created the Takfiris and we should be vigilant not to let them tarnish the face of Islam," he added.
