April 27, The Iran Project – A senior Syrian cleric has stressed Iran’s pivotal role in fighting against terrorist groups, particularly Daesh, in Syria.

Speaking to a reporter on Wednesday, Friday Prayer Leader of the Great Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, Ma’mun Mohammad Adib Rahama said Syrian people and soldiers are proud of Iranian forces that played main role in the liberation of the cities of Aleppo and Rif.

There is no difference among Iranian forces, Hezbollah militants and Syrian soldiers, stated Adib Rahama, stressing that they are all fighting in a united front against Daesh to restore peace and security to Syria.

The senior cleric went on to say that Syrian nation should unify with the support of their friends to fight against terrorist and extremist groups otherwise Daesh not only spreads in Syria, but also in Egypt, Iraq, and Yemen.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he referred to Western media’s spreading rumors about Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to intensify Syria crisis, saying we must use all of our capacity to deal with the enemy.

Conflict began in Syria in 2011, when foreign states opposing the Syrian administration started pouring arms and militants into the Arab country. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict so far.
