15 Mar 2017 - 11:53

IRNA – Director general of Bulgarian Foreign Ministry for cultural affairs Lyudmila Dimitrova called for drawing up a working plan for joint cultural cooperation with Iran’s Cultural Office in Bulgaria.

She made the call in a meeting on Tuesday with Iran’s cultural attaché in Sufia Mohammad Ali Kiani.

Dimitrova discussed coordination and joint activities on the occasion of 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations as well as 70th anniversary of cultural ties between the two brotherly and friendly countries.

Referring the 120-year history of ties between Bulgaria and Iran and current rotating chairmanship of her country over the EU, she proposed devising a working schedule for collaboration with Iran’s Cultural Office in Sofia in the current year.

Noting that during presidency of Bulgaria over EU, Sofia’s ambassador in Tehran will serve as the bloc’s representative in Tehran, she called for further coordination and arrangements by the two sides in cultural programs to further introduce the two nations’ cultures and civilizations.

Kiani, for his part, hailed the 120th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties as well as 70th anniversary of cultural relations, praising their cultural artistic cooperation.

Recalling joint interests and cultural and tribal commonalities, he said that cultural programs held by Iran’s Cultural Office during his mission were impressive and emotional.

He also underlined the need for holding Iran and Bulgaria cultural weeks in both countries.
