IRGC General hails religious unity in Iran

13 Mar 2017 - 16:24

Tasnim– Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami highlighted the strong bonds between Shiite and Sunni Muslims in Iran, stressing that the Islamic Republic advocates the rights of all Muslims around the world.

The Islamic Revolution draws no line between Shiite and Sunni Muslims, the top commander said in a gathering of Sunni clerics in Iran’s southeastern city of Zahedan on Monday.

He underlined that Iranians care about Sunni Muslims to the same extent that they care about Shiites, an obvious sign of which is Iran’s unwavering support for Palestinians, who are Sunni Muslims.

General Salami also noted that Iran has gained such great power that any encounter with the “arrogant powers” anywhere would result in the enemy’s defeat.

His comments came a month after Iran held the 6th International Conference on Palestinian Intifada, which saw Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as a keynote speaker.

Ayatollah Khamenei has always underlined Iran’s commitment to providing unwavering support for Palestine, stressing that this approach is not confined to a specific period of time.
