Iranian women should participate further in different areas: Official

IRNA - Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi called for expansion of Iranian women participation in different fields, political arenas in particular.


Molaverdi made the remarks in “Iran’s Women” photo exhibition in Tehran organized by the Vice-Presidency for Women and Family Affairs and the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

She underlined that 10 percent of Iran Cabinet members are women, adding the presence of women has also been doubled in Iran's parliament.

Molaverdi stressed that following the triumph of 1979 Islamic Revolution, the number of women in academic centers has risen 14 fold.

She reiterated that 22 percent of Iranian women are active in agricultural and 25 percent in industrial sectors nationwide.

“Iran’s Women”, a photo exhibition, inaugurated in Milad tower in Tehran (March 11) to display the leading role Iranian women have been playing in every day life in recent years.

The exhibition displays 80 photos taken by IRNA’s photojournalists.

The participation and the capabilities of Iranian women and portraying the role they play in various spheres are the main themes of the photos.

The United Nations Information Center (UNIC), Tehran, Director Maria Dotsenko, and the Managing Director of IRNA Mohammad Khodaddi also were present in the opening ceremony.

The exhibition is underway for one week in Milad tower.
