1 Jan 2017 - 14:47

January 1, The Iran Project – Iran says it is ready to host Russian tankers in Neka oil terminal if Tehran and Moscow finalize the agreement over sales of 100 thousand barrels of crude oil per day.

Referring to the preparation of Neka oil terminal for resuming oil swap or export, Pirouz Mousavi, the managing director of the Northern Oil Terminals Company of Iran (NOTCI), told reporters that if the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) decides to sell oil to the Caspian littoral states, Russian oil tankers can dock at Neka oil terminal as Iran’s largest crude terminal in the Caspian Sea.

In December, Iran's oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and Russia's energy minister Alexander Novak agreed on sales of 100 thousand barrels of crude oil per day.

Iran has already started constructing the massive project of the offshore pool and increasing 12 loading berths at Neka oil terminal.

After the completion of offshore pool massive project, tankers with a capacity of 12 to 14 tons can dock at Neka oil terminal, and a million and 350 thousand barrels of oil can also be saved there.

During the post-sanctions era, Iran has largely cooperated with Russia, signing deals with several Russian oil companies for the development of seven Iranian oil and gas fields.
