Amir-Abdollahian: Unity, nat’l integrity preludes to Iraq' security

Tehran, Aug 3, IRNA -- Special advisor to the speaker of parliament for international affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Wednesday that the key to transit of Iraq from the current sensitive situation is unity and national integrity.


“The national consensus and unity are keys to transit of Iraq from the current sensitive conditions,” Amir-Abdollahian said in a meeting with Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran Sidar Ajha al-Moussavi and while pointing to the importance of stability and security in Iraq.

He pointed to the important role of the Iraqi government, army and popular forces in Iraq, and said, “The instability in Iraq is attributed to the meddling policies of the US and the Zionist regime’s destructive role in the region.”

Amir-Abdollahian congratulated Iraq’s recent victories against terrorism to the Iranian government and nation, and hailed the recent stances of the Iraqi foreign minister in supporting the axis of resistance.

The Iraqi ambassador, for his part, called for greater cooperation between the two countries in the field of common interests and the world of Islam.

He pointed to the importance of Iran-Iraq cooperation, and said, “There is an inseparable bond between the two countries and the two countries should do their best to make use of the existing religious and cultural capacities for consolidate stability and security in the region.
