Kiarostami's 'Taste of Cherry' screened in Berlin

Tehran, July 12, IRNA – Iranian prominent director Abbas Kiarostami's 'Taste of Cherry' together with some of his short films was screened on Sunday evening in Hafez Institute in Berlin.

A commemoration ceremony for Iranian acclaimed filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami was held on Sunday in the presence of Iranian and German cinephiles in Berlin.

'Taste of Cherry' was screened with English subtitle and then the topic and plot of all screened movies were discussed.

Kiarostami, 76, succumbed to death in Paris, France, on July 4 after fighting gastrointestinal cancer for four months. He was in France for further treatments.

Kiarostami was the only Iranian filmmaker who won the Palme D'Or, the top prize at Cannes, with his 1997 film Taste of Cherry, a film to appreciate life in a delicate way based on Iranian values.

Various commemoration ceremonies were held in many European countries such as Germany, Austria and France.
It is worth noting that a commemoration ceremony was also held in France where he passed away and the fans left Kiarostami's photos decorated with flowers and candles on the Seine River.
Kiarostami also made short movies like the Bread and Alley, the Experience, Break time, Two Solutions for One Problem, and some movies like Close Up, Homework, Through the Olive Trees, Taste of Cherry and so on.
