Labor minister meets counterparts in Geneva

TEHRAN, Jun. 09 (MNA) – Iranian Labor Minister, Rabiei, had bilateral meetings with his Indian, Austrian, and Mexican counterparts, on Wednesday, on the sideline of the 105th Session of the International Labor Conference.

“Iran and India have a lot of commonalities, and accordingly the MoU signed with Indian Agriculture Ministry has been sent to the cooperatives section,” said Iranian Minister of Labor, Cooperatives and Social Welfare, Ali Rabiei, on the sideline of his meeting with Shankar Agarwal, Indian Minister of Labour and Employment.

Recounting that the drafts for a host of memoranda for understanding (MoUs) have been sent to Indian ministries of relevance, Rabiei voiced hope for development of cooperation with India and declared the readiness of his organization for this cause.

IT, joint investment projects, and insurance cooperation were the other areas that the Iranian minister voiced his willingness for cooperation.

Austrian Federal Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection, Alois Stöger Stubenring, was the other counterpart whom Ali Rabiei held a bilateral meeting with in Geneva.

During his meeting with Austrian official, Rabiei recounted that Iranians have a positive image of Austria, and called for cooperation and exchange of experience between the two countries in areas of social insurances, welfare policies, and retirement funds.

“I hope that, after the Austrian President visited Iran, the bilateral ties expand more than ever in the history of relations between Tehran and Vienna,” said Alois Stöger for his part in the meeting.

Stöger expressed the inclination of his country for bilateral cooperation with Iran in the areas of retirement systems, medical services, and the educational system.

In another bilateral meeting, Rabiei conferred with Mexican Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare, Jesus Alfonso Navarrete Prida.

Kicked off on May 30, in Geneva, the 105th International Labor Organization Conference will last until June 10 with focus on international events in the field of labor and social affairs. It is the most important international event in the field of labor and social security.
