Iran, South Korea health ministers urge on following up co-op deal

Rome, May 25, IRNA - Iran's Minister of Health and Medical Education Hassan Hashemi and his South Korean counterpart Bogeon Bokji Bu in a meeting on Tuesday stressed establishment of joint taskforces to go ahead with the two countries cooperation agenda.


Hashemi met the South Korean minister of health and welfare on the sidelines of the 69th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.

Health Ministry spokesman Abbas Zarenejad said that execution of cooperation documents signed during the South Korean president's recent visit to Iran was discussed during the meeting.

The two officials also voiced hope for implementation of cooperation documents in the next six months ahead, Zarenejad said.

During the meeting, Hashemi underlined the importance of peace in the Korean peninsula.

South Korean health minister for his part welcomed Iran's engagement with South Korean banks and invited his Iranian counterpart to attend the country's health industry and tourism exhibition in autumn.

Several South Korean companies including Samsung and Hyundai have expressed interest to cooperate with Iran's health sector, he added.

Delegations from 192 countries have taken part in the six-day WHO assembly.
