Tehran, March 16, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani said Wednesday the world countries delivered a negative response to ill-wishers of Iran at the UN Security Council lobbying for sanctions on Iran over missile test.


The president was speaking to reporters in the end of a cabinet meeting in reaction to taking Iran's missile tests to the Security Council.

'We are happy that the extremists and warmongers and those who wrongly took the case of our missile test to the United Nations and the Security Council went back in despair,' Rouhani said.

The global community dealt them a blow, making clear that the missile test aimed for defensive purposes, Rouhani added.

'We have not attempted to attack any country, particularly our neighbors, with our missiles, and do not intend to do so neither now nor in the future,' he said.

'Our weapons are solely meant to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.'
