TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran attaches special importance to bilateral relations with African countries, said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

“Africa is holding a special position in the Islamic Republic of Iran’s foreign policy,” he said in a press conference with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama here in Tehran, adding Iran attaches great importance to boosting ties with its African friends including Ghana.

He said that the two countries can work in oil, gas, petrochemistry, building power plants, technical and engineering services and agriculture as well as producing home appliances and cement.

Iran and Ghana signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) as John Dramani Mahama is visiting Iran on an official visit.

The two sides signed documents in a bid to work in agricultural and standard fields.

Ghanaian president is visiting Iran at top of a high-ranking political and economic delegation and plans to meet with Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali-Khamenei, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif.

He also plans to take part in a trade conference which would be attended by Iranian and Ghanaian businessmen on Monday.
