Iranian, Russian officials review bilateral ties in Tehran

Tehran, Feb 4, IRNA – Senior Iranian and Russian officials held a meeting here reviewing the latest situation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that has been implemented since January 16.


The meeting was attended by Iran's Senior Foreign Ministry official Hamid Baeedinejad and the Russian Director of Foreign Ministry Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Mikhail Ulyanov.

The two also discussed bilateral cooperation.

The announcement of the 'Implementation Day' of the July nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was on January 16 as the international sanctions against Iran were lifted.

The two officials called for a region free from the weapons of mass destruction as well as fight with terrorism and extremism.

The two also discussed the latest talks held in the international organizations on the non-proliferation issue.

Further, the two stressed importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in international security domain.

Ulyanov is visiting Tehran at the invitation of Baeedinejad.
