Syria terrorists list compiled by Jordan is contradictory: Lavrov

20 Dec 2015 - 13:40

Tehran, Dec 19, IRNA - The list of terrorist organizations of Syria compiled by Jordan is contradictory, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after a United Nations Security Council meeting devoted to Syrian settlement.

'We all decided to assess whom should be regarded in the list of terrorist organization. We asked the foreign minister of Jordan to coordinate this work, which he did,' Lavrov recalled.

'The list is very contradictory,' he said.

According to TASS news agency, groups that shelled Russia’s embassy in Damascus should be put on the terrorist list of Syria, he added.

'We agreed on criteria, so that clearly terrorist groups could be added to the Islamic State (banned in Russia) and Jabhat al-Nusra,' Lavrov said. 'For us, for example, such criteria are regular shelling of residential quarters and regular shelling of Russia’s embassy in Damascus.'

'This work (to specify the list of terrorist groups) will continue, we hope [these groups] will replenish the UN Security Council’s antiterrorism list,' he said.
