Rasht, Gilan Prov., Sept 17, IRNA – Governor General of Gilan Mohammad-Ali Najafi said on Wednesday that Azerbaijan Republic has announced readiness for linking its railway to that of Iran.

Najafi told closing session of the meeting on Iran-Azerbaijan Railway Link that on the proposal of Azerbaijan and Iran’s welcoming, the Azerbaijan railway will continue from the country’s Astra region and get connected to Iran’s Astara.

He said Gilan railway connected Central Asian states and Europe to the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and north of Iran to the south.
