US excessive demands may risk reaching N-deal

7 Jul 2015 - 16:08

TEHRAN, Jul. 07 (MNA) – Head of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said the US may risk reaching a deal by making excessive demands in the negotiations over the country’s nuclear program

.Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Tuesday referred to the latest situation of nuclear negotiations in Vienna and said “the current atmosphere prevailing the nuclear talks is more serious than ever.”

He maintained that given the serious determination on all sides to reach a final agreement, the possibility for a positive outcome in the talks between Iran and the 5+1 group of countries has increased considerably as compared to the past.

The Iranian official warned however that the US approach of making excessive demands will always pose a risk to the process of negotiations, but “the view of the Islamic Republic of Iran is what all sides have taken seriously and as such the possibility of a nuclear deal is conceivable.”

“It appears that the negotiators do not see a long-term extension as an option and the talks may continue for only a few more days,” he said.

The Iranian official further stressed that Iran does not find itself restricted by any deadline in the course of negotiations and will continue with the talks within the framework of national interests to reach a good agreement over its nuclear program.

Foreign ministers of Iran and five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany resumed intensive talks this morning at the Vienna's Palais Coburg to finalize the text of an agreement over Tehran’s nuclear program.

The talks are said to be wrapped up by Thursday morning while all sides have expressed optimism that a nuclear deal is within reach.
