Minister denies cancer rate is on the rise in Iran

30 Jul 2015 - 13:02

Tehran, July 4, IRNA – Iran’s deputy health minister has claimed that cancer rate in Iran is lower than in other countries in the world.

Reza Malekzadeh also labeled claims that cancer rate is increasing as untrue, the Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.

“Cancer is a dangerous disease and its financial cost is very high, therefore, some basic measures for its prevention must be taken,” said Reza Malekzadeh

With the help of specialists and researchers, the Health Ministry has adopted some key measures to fight the disease over the last two years, he added.

“Given that aspirin, statins and monoamine are three drugs which help preventing cancer, people aged 50 and above must be persuaded to use them in order to bring the disease under control,” he continued.

Malekzadeh also warned that some planning needs to be taken in order to change the nutrition patterns and the machinery lifestyle of Iranians.
