1 Jul 2015 - 12:21

Tehran, June 9, The Iran Project – Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance failed to convince Iran’s Members of Parliament by his remarks on press freedom.

Having been questioned by some MPs over press freedom on Tuesday, Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati said that the ministry is accused of giving a lot of freedom to press, but what is important is the constitution that recognizes freedom of expression for the press unless it violates principles of Islam or public rights.

But MPs were not convinced by Jannati’s answers and gave him another warning card, known as ‘yellow card’.

The yellow card given on Tuesday was the thirteenth yellow card has been given to a minister in the Rouhani’s government.

According to parliamentary regulations, a minister who receives three yellow cards can be impeached.
