Quake jolts Khuzestan in southwest Iran

Tehran, April 26, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale jolted Zahreh region in the southwestern province of Khuzestan on Sunday morning.

According to the Seismography Center of Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the quake occurred at 05:35 local time (01:05 GMT).

The tremor's epicenter was at 48.30 degrees latitude and 81.49 degrees longitude.

There has been no report on possible casualties or damage caused by the quake.

Iran is frequently hit by quakes. In 2003 tens of thousands of people were killed in a quake which flattened Bam.

More than 300 people died in two quakes in northwestern Iran in August this year.
