Minister: Iran to resume gas exports to Iraq this year

Tehran, April 5, IRNA – Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said Iran is to resume gas exports to Iraq in the new Iranian year.




He said the volume of Iran’s gas exports to Iraq will culminate in its peak next year.

Speaking on the most important programs in his ministry during the new Iranian year (started March 21, 2015), Zanganeh said South Pars projects will be developed and completed this year.

According to the minister, joint fields including the oil fields of west Karoun are among Oil Ministry top projects in the current Iranian year.

Zanganeh also said the first phase of building a refinery in the south of country which is the biggest of its kind in terms of production capacity will become operational this year.

He also noted that the construction operation of a refinery complex in Siraf also in the south of country will start by late spring.

He also pointed to providing petrochemical items needed by industrial units in the country during the current year as a major task the ministry is going to carry out and expressed hope that the petrochemical industry will develop in a faster pace now that anti-Iran sanctions are going to be lifted.

Zanganeh said Iran intends to go back to the oil production level of pre-sanctions years once the removal of sanctions is officially announced.
