Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei has joined Facebook.
Having already amassed thousands of followers on Twitter and Instagram, Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, continues to experiment with new technology - he recently joined Facebook, the social networking site.
These accounts are managed by khamenei.ir website that belongs to the Center for Preserving and Publishing the Works of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
Khamenei .ir is an unofficial website that has been active in recent years.
Likewise, Facebook is blocked by the country’s web filters. Still, the State Department estimates that 14 million Iranians bypass the filters to access their Facebook accounts.
