17 Sep 2014 - 14:59

Tehran, Sept 17, IRNA – Representatives of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) and Chamber of Commerce and officials of Turkey’s Embassy in Tehran in a session discussed and exchanged views on installation of Global Positioning System (GPS) on transit trucks.
Ghomalreza Saffari, IRICA Director General of International Cooperation Office, said GPS installation on trucks is a control effort aimed at conducting effective campaign against customs violations as well as facilitating transportation and transit of goods from the Iranian territory.
Stressing that it is legally approved in TIR, he stressed that the effort has been made in two stages: GPS installation on local trucks as of April 30 and on all transit trucks as of July 8, 2014.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Commercial Attache in Iran Himmet Geris appreciated Iran’s efforts in resolving problems of Turkish transit trucks drivers passing through Iran for Turkmenistan.

The two sides called for continuation of bilateral cooperation in putting an end to the problems and gaining access to the required information by using GPS in order to take control measures.
