IRNA � Islam is a religion which contains whatever human beings need and brings about security, peace and reconciliation in the world, an Iranian official said at a ceremony in the Philippines on Sunday.


'Islam is against any insecurity and instability as they are threats to convergence and peaceful co-existence,' said Mohammad Jafari-Malek, Iran's cultural attach� in Manila at a meeting on peace and security in society held at Santa Tomas University.

'From the Islamic point of view, poverty, social injustice, racial discrimination and oppression may trigger insecurity, hurt peace and increase instability in the societies,' Jafari-Malek said.

A meeting focusing on peace and security in society was held at the University of Santa Tomas in the Philippines with participation of Iranian cultural attach� and a number of religious figures.

The participants also addressed the issue of terrorism and all speakers agreed that terrorists believe in no religion.
