Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Brussels to talk with his British, French and German counterparts as well as the European Union's Foreign Policy chief Federica Mogherini, wrote on his twitter page that 'Strong consensus in Brussels' was achieved today on the implementation of the nuclear deal.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany signed the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in 2015. Under the agreement Iran accepted to curb its nuclear activities in exchange for economic sanctions relief.
' Iran is complying with the JCPOA . The Iranian people have every right to all its dividends. Any move that undermines the JCPOA is unacceptable,' he said in the tweet.
He also said that E3 and EU are fully aware that Irans continued compliance depends on full compliance by the US.
The Foreign Ministers and EU Foreign Policy Chief today met in Brussels. They expressed their support for the deal and emphasized it should be preserved.
The meeting and the remarks by FM Zarif come a day ahead of an announcement that (US President Donald) Trump is going to make on his decision as to whether waiver the economic sanctions on Iran.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as the sole supervisor of Iran's performance, has repeatedly confirmed Iran's commitment to the deal, but Trump in October 2017 said that the deal is the 'worst' that the United States has entered so far, and his administration would not certify it anymore.
