Tehran to host Iran-Azerbaijan joint economic commission in mid-January

IRNA - Chief of staff of Iran's president Mahmoud Vaezi said on Friday that Iran-Azerbaijan joint economic commission will be held in mid-January in Tehran, noting that the two countries economic ties experienced a 40-percent surge in 2017.

Speaking to reporters at the end of a two-day visit to Azerbaijan Republic, Vaezi said that he traveled to Baku to attend the closing summit of the Islamic Solidarity Year.

Peripheral meetings were in fact a full review of bilateral relations, he said.

Referring to Azerbaijan presidents invitation for President Hassan Rouhani of Iran, the chief of staff of the Iranian president hoped that the visit will take place soon in the coming Iranian calendar year (to start on March 21, 2018).

He further noted that he discussed a wide range of issues with Azeri president, minister of communications and transportation and secretary of the countrys national security council during his visit to Baku.
