Mogherini: EU members not to follow US on Quds

RNA The European Union member states will not follow US President Donald Trumps recent decision to relocate US embassy from Tel Aviv to Beit ul-Muqaddas, EU foreign affairs chief said.

I would like to add one thing. I did not say it proactively so far but I would do it now, especially after the round of talks we had with the Ministers and with the Prime Minister [of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu]. I know that Prime Minister [of Israel, Benjamin] Netanyahu mentioned a couple of times that he expects others to follow President [of the United States, Donald] Trump's decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem [Holy Quds]. He can keep his expectations for others because from the European Union Member States' side this move will not come, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said Monday at the press conference following the Foreign Affairs Council.

US president's Dec 6 announcement to recognize Beit-ul Moqaddas as the capital city of Israel has faced extensive criticisms all over the world even from the US allies.

The point is one State of Israel [Zionist regime] recognized with Jerusalem in the 1967 lines as its capital, one State of Palestine with Jerusalem in the 1967 lines recognized as its capital. It is the only way to go. If others have other ideas, I have not heard them. This is where the European Union stands and its Member States stand, she added.

Before holding talks with the Zionist regimes PM, Mogherini on Monday expressed concern over the escalation of violence in the Middle East, saying Trumps decision would be a gift to extremists.

'EU will increase its work to relaunch peace process. We will have a similar conversation with President Abbas. Worst thing that can happen now is an escalation of tensions or violence' Mogherini recently said in a Twitter message.
