Alwaght - Resistance front states have over the years provided concrete evidence of Western countries, especially US, UK and French support for terrorists in Syria and now some Western sources are corroborating the assertions but for different reasons.

In the most recent case, the British government was compelled to suspend aid to a so-called Syrian opposition policing project after a BBC investigation found that money ended up in the hands of a controversial militant group. An aid group involved in the project denies the claims.

In a program aired on Monday, BBC's Panorama reported that money sent through the UK-based Adam Smith International to the pro-opposition Free Syrian Police in Aleppo was used by a miltant group led by a notorious terrorist Nour al-Din al-Zinki.

The Wahhabi Takfiri militant organization has been accused of carrying out human rights abuses and extrajudicial executions.

In April, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson committed a further 4m to the British-funded Access to Justice and Community Security scheme that has supported the police in rebel-held Aleppo through Adam Smith International.

However, on Monday, ahead of the broadcast, the UK announced that it is suspending the project pending an investigation into the claims.

Corroborating assertions by Syria, Iran and Russia

This report just corroborates what the Syrian government and its allies, especially Iran and Russia have been asserting over the years that terrorists in the region were backed by Western, particularly the US, the UK and France countries and reactionary regional regimes led by Saudi Arabia.

Speaking in September, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad noted that certain Western countries still support, directly or indirectly, terrorist organizations and groups in Syria despite the fact that this wrong policy has already backfired on their governments and people.

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has blamed the US for instability in the West Asia and said Washington's fight againstIsiswas "a lie".

"You [the United States] and your agents are the source of instability in the Middle East... who created ISIS? America... America's claim of fighting against ISIS is a lie," Ayatollah Khamenei said June in a meeting with high-ranking Iranian officials.

Mid-this year, Iran's chief Armed Forces spokesman said the US and Saudi Arabia are directing, guiding and supporting acts of terror by ISIS terrorist group.

The ISIS terrorist group is affiliated with the US and Saudi Arabia and carries out terrorist measures under the direction, guidance and support of these two countries, Deputy Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said.

In September, The Russian Ministry of Defense released aerial images that showed US Army special forces equipment north of the town of Deir ez-Zor, where ISIS terrorists were deployed. In October also, the Russian Defense Ministry noted that a series of ISIS attacks against Syrian forces used sophisticated intelligence and originated from a US-controlled area near al-Tanf on the Syria-Jordan border, Russias Defense Ministry said.

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also accused Washington of sponsoring the ISIS terrorist group.

"They [the US] said they were fighting Daesh (Arabic acronym for ISIS), but what did they do instead? Gave Daesh a load of dollars," said the leader of Nato-member Turkey in November.

Erdogan's remarks echoed his comments in 2016 when he said, Now they (US-led coalition) give support to terrorist groups including Daesh, YPG, PYD. It's very clear. We have confirmed evidence, with pictures, photos and videos.

Tip of the iceberg

These reported incidents are just a tip of the iceberg of wide-ranging support ISIS and other Takfiri terrorist groups obtained from Western countries and their regional lackeys.

In October 2012, US officials acknowledged off the record for the first time to the New York Times that most of the arms that had been shipped to armed opposition groups in Syria with US logistical assistance during the previous year had gone to al-Qaedas Syrian franchise, al-Nusra. The most outstanding evidence of US support for ISIS came from none-other than the current president of the country, Donald Trump. During his campaigns last year, Trump declared that the then President Barack Obama was the founder of ISIS and the co-founder was Hillary Clinton.

BBC trying to absolve UK

The decision by state-owned BBC to air a program showing how UKs money ended up being used by terrorists is meant to absolve London from any blame pertaining to backing terrorists who have wreaked havoc in Syria for nearly seven years.

The new media campaign to pretend that the UK's government was ignorant of the fate of money and arms sent to Syria, comes at a time when the terrorists especially ISIS have suffered defeat and virtually lost all the territories they had occupied in Syria and Iraq in 2014.

Any attempt to whitewash Western countries' backing for terrorists who committed crimes across the West Asia region and beyond cannot absolve them from blame and they will forever remain in the annals of history as being part of the most brutal atrocities perpetrated against the innocent citizens of Iraq and Syria.
