“World powers covet Middle East resources"

MNA – Head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharazi said that big powers have always been present in the region because of its huge energy resources.

The Head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharazi made the remarks at “Regional Security in the West Asia; Emerging Challenges and Trends” seminar underway in Thran.

Kharazi noted, "our region has always had big powers and its huge energy resources is the main reason for this."

He added that “everybody’s security in the region is interconnected, and countries cannot just think of their own security without taking into account the security of other countries. Since the establishment of the Zionist regime, some countries have gone their own way but Islamic Revolution in Iran put an end to that mentality because a system came to power in Iran that has not been dependent on countries outside the region and has helped others in the region to stand on their feet.”

The seminar is part of a series of conferences that went underway on Nov. 15 (entitled 'Arms Trends and Regional Security in the West Asia'), and will continue through Dec. 19 in the form of six other conferences within the framework of Tehran Security Conference 2018.
