Irans production of Euro-4 gasoline up 16%

Press TV - Irans latest refinery figures show the countrys production of Euro-4 gasoline has seen a significant rise in a sign that shows the country is moving closer to clean fuel standards.

Figures released by the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) showed that the countrys refineries had produced 25.8 million liters per day (ml/d) of Euro-4 gasoline - a class of gasoline which is unleaded and has the minimum octane number of 91 -over a period of 8 months starting 21 March 2017.

The volume marked an increase of 16 percent compared to the same period last year.

The countrys total production of gasoline, as announced by the NIORDC, stood at 74.4 ml/d on average, around 8 percent higher than a similar period last year.

Production of normal gasoline also saw a rise of 4 percent, reaching as high as 48.7 ml/d.

The bulk of Irans gasoline production came from Shazand with 15 m/d. Other top producers were Abadan and Isfahan refineries with a similar production capacity of 11 ml/d.

The NIORDC further in its statement said the production of gasoline from the newly inaugurated Persian Gulf Star Refinery stood at 3.5 ml/d, adding that this could rise to as high as 12 ml/d within the next few weeks.

Irans media earlier reported that the countrys current consumption of gasoline stood at 81 ml/d over a period of 8 months starting 21 March 2017, indicating a rise of 8 percent compared to the same period last year.

Figures also show consumption hit a record in early September when it reached 104.7 ml/d. It was also the lowest in early April when it stood at 62.7 ml/d.
