Russia may defend Iran if attacked by Israel: US scholar

Tasnim An American scholar and political commentator said Russia might defend Iran if Israel launched a military attack against the Islamic Republic over its support for Lebanons Hezbollah resistance movement.

Should Saudi Arabia and Israel attack Hezbollah and Iran comes to its defense, Russia may be drawn into the fray on the side of Iran. Russia cannot afford to have Syria fall to Saudi Arabia and Israel, which is the ultimate game plan. If Israel uses Iranian support of Hezbollah as a pretext for attacking Iran, then Russia becomes the decisive player, with the ability to destroy Israeli missiles launched against Iran, which Russia can destroy in flight or even redirect against the nation that fired them. This scenario could rapidly escalate to a world war in which Israel itself is turned into a gigantic sheet of glass, James Henry Fetzer told Tasnim.

James Henry Fetzer is an American philosopher of science. He is an editor at Veterans Today and co-founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth.

The following is the full text of the interview:

Tasnim: Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced his resignation in a televised statement from Riyadh, citing several reasons, including the security situation in Lebanon, for his sudden decision. He also said that he realized a plot being hatched against his life. What is your take on this?

Fetzer: This appears to be a classic case of an extorted resignation. Saad al-Harari may not have had a gun to his head, but I bet that he had a sword to his neck. There was no good reason for his resignation, especially when, upon his return, he was going to be meeting with the IMF, the World Bank and improving the infrastructure of Lebanon. He appears to have been forced to assert that Hezbollah has created a government within the government of Lebanon, which echoes the position of Israel, suggesting collusion between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia and Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu.

Tasnim: When Saad Hariris jet touched down at Riyadh on the evening of 3 November, the first thing he saw was a group of Saudi policemen surrounding the plane. When they came aboard, they confiscated his mobile phone and those of his bodyguards. Thus was Lebanons prime minister silenced, according to a recent by the Independent. He certainly did not anticipate what happened to him. Reports say that he is now in some sort of captivity in Saudi Arabia. It seems that Mohammad bin Salman is up to something. What do you think?

Fetzer: His reception upon landing in Saudi Arabia represents being taken into custody, not welcomed as the leader of a sovereign nation. Surrounding the plane and confiscating mobile phones represents a highly unusual non-welcome for the PM of Lebanon and further confirms that his resignation was coerced and involuntary. The Lebanese Constitution requires that the PM be Sunni, while the President is Shiite, where finding a replacement poses a challenge to the government, which has thereby been thrown into a state of instability and chaos and which is the outcome intended by his forced resignation.

Tasnim: MBS (Mohammed bin Salman) has threatened to attack Lebanon and even Iran. Is this a game of bluff?

Fetzer: Israel has been thwarted in its plans for a Greater Israel by the defeat of ISIS in Syria, which Israel was supporting both financially and militarily by medical aid to its wounded. 9/11 was orchestrated by the CIA, the Neocons in the DOD (Department of Defense) and the Mossad to justify US intervention to take out the governments of seven nations in the next five years, beginning with Iraq and Libya and ending with Syria and Iran. Netanyahu is furious and eager to take control of the situation himself using Saudi Arabia as an ally. Hezbollah has defeated Israel in the past. I predict he will use this opportunity to invade Lebanon.

We already have reports from Saudi sources that Lebanon has declared war on Saudi Arabia, which is completely absurd. Do not be surprised if Lebanon is attacked by both nations at the same time. The Saudis appear to have used tactical nukes in Yemen, where they are engaged in the brutal suppression of the Houthi movement. And Israel has its own undeclared stockpile of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. If Hezbollah comes under massive attack, Iran may be moved to come to its defense, which may be precisely what Bibi desires. He wants retaliation on Iran for the defeat of ISIS in Syria.

This scenario could rapidly escalate to a world war in which Israel itself is turned into a gigantic sheet of glass.

The latest allegation against Iran--that it was attempting to smuggle a ballistic missile into Yemen--is ridiculous on its face. But a CIA whistle-blower in the US has warned that of a plot to fire a missile into the US and assign blame to Yemen and Iran. This is the level of deceit and corruption to which the so-called "Deep State" has sunk in the United States, with one false flag attack after another. 9/11 has been the most ambitious to date, but this would not surprise me. Israel will abuse the US to advance its agenda.
