IRNA � Lebanese president described Iran as an important country which plays an effective role in solving the problems in the Middle East region.


'Iran is not to secure its own interests in Lebanon despite Tehran's undeniable power in the region,' Michel Aoun said at a live TV program on Monday.

'Iran's regional power should not be ignored,' President Aoun said while referring to Iran's strong presence in different rounds of Astana talks on Syria.

He further pointed to Iran's years of intensive nuclear talks with the world powers as another example of the country's authority.

The 7th round of the Syria peace talks started work at the expert level in the Kazakh capital on October 29.

The high-level Astana talks on Syria are to be held in the coming days.
