Iranian Speaker: Abrogation of N. deal to harm Americans

FNA- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani warned the US that revoking the 2015 nuclear deal will harm Washington in the first place as Iran enjoys the ability to revive its previous nuclear capabilities fast.

Addressing a meeting in West Azarbaijan province on Sunday, Larijani lambasted the US House of Representatives for standing agianst the deal and violating it repeatedly and asked the US House to stop empty words about the spirit of the agreement.

"They should know that if the nuclear deal is abrogated, they will be harmed," Larijani said.

"If the nuclear deal is discarded, Iran will be able to return to its previous status and grow even more powerful than the past before the time planned," he added.

His remarks came after the US House of Representatives voted in favor of new measures that block sales of commercial aircraft to Iran, ignoring some lawmakers warnings that the hostile move would undermine the 2015 nuclear agreement between the Islamic Republic and the six world powers.

In relevant remarks on Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani lashed out at the US for violating the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and the world powers, calling on the European states to show decisive reaction and save the internationally-endorsed agreement.

"The US violation of the nuclear deal means hitting a blow at a multilateral international obligation," President Rouhani said in a meeting with Belgian Parliament Speaker Siegfried Bracke in Tehran.

He reminded that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as the only eligible body vested with the authority to confirm Iran's commitment to the nuclear deal has confirmed Tehran's compliance repeatedly, and added, "We expect the other sides to remain committed to their undertakings within the framework of this agreement (the nuclear deal) too."

"We expect the EU to firstly, fully act upon the nuclear deal and secondly, pressure the US to remain committed to its undertakings based on the nuclear deal and send a decisive message to Washington in this regard," President Rouhani said.

Also, last month, President Rouhani called on members of the European Union to play a greater role in the implementation of the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and the world powers.

"The nuclear deal was a win-win agreement which on one hand, removed certain western states' concerns and on the other hand, ended the atmosphere spread by the cruel sanctions against the Iranian nation," President Rouhani said in a meeting with new Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Stefan Scholz.

He underlined that Iran is determined to use the new atmosphere to attract investment, transfer new technologies and facilitate economic cooperation, specially the banking interactions.

"The full implementation of the nuclear deal benefits the EU and the region; therefore, it is necessary that the EU increases its efforts and role in this regard," President Rouhani said.
