Iran gets 3 more medals in 2017 Asian Rowing Championships

Press TV - Iranian sportsmen and women have continued to deliver awesome performances at the 2017 Asian Rowing Championships in Thailand, and collected three more medals in the continental tournament.

On Friday, the Iranian team, comprised of Siavash Saeedi, Seyyed Masoud Mohammadi, Seyyed Mojtaba Shojaei and Bahman Nasiri, had an impressive showing atthe heavyweight men'squadruple sculls final in the eastern city of Pattaya,and clocked 5 minutes and 46.14 secondsto claim the gold medal.

The Indonesian and Thai outfits won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the heavyweight women'squadruple sculls final, the Iranian team, consisting of Nazanin Rahmani, Mahsa Javar, Parisa Ahmadi and Maryam Omidiparsa, vied for top honors against Malaysian, Taiwanese, Kazakh, Thai and Chinese sides.

They stood on the top podium with the time of 6:20.07 minutes. The Iranian sportswomen were followed by their Kazakh and Thai counterparts in the second and third positions respectively.

Additionally, Homeira Barzegar, Fereshteh Roumi, Shakiba Voghoufi and Maryam Omidiparsa, who represented the Iranian team in the lightweight women's foursweep rowing final, set the time of 6 minutes and 53.49 seconds and won the gold medal.

Chinese rowers claimed the silver medal in this category, while Thai athletes bagged the bronze.

Iranian sportsmen and women had been awarded five medals, including three gold ones, in the event.

The 2017 Asian Rowing Championships started in Thailand on September 4 and finished on September 8.
