Rezaei urges Muslim states to defend Rohingya Muslims

MNA Former IRGC General MohsenRezaeihas called on all Muslim countries to form a unified force in defense of Rohingya Muslims who are being persecuted violently in Myanmar.


Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council MohsenRezaei reacted to the mass killings and displacement of Rohingya Muslims by Myanmar forces, saying the brutal catastrophe in Myanmar is a stain of disgrace on the hands of so-called human rights defenders. Muslim countries need to come together in defense of Muslims in Myanmar.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held separatetelephone conversations with his Turkish, Malaysian and Indonesian counterparts on Monday, during which he voiced deep concern over the grievous situation of Rohingya Muslims and stressed Irans readiness to provide any kind of help and contribute to adoption of collective measures by international bodies and Islamic countries toward the prevention of the ethnic cleansing in Myanmar.

According to the UN statistics, over 400 Muslims have been killed in the past week after the Burmese forces shored up crack-down against Rohingya Muslims who take up around one million of the population. Since 2012, more than 168,000 Rohingyahave fledmostly to Bangladesh due to widespread persecution by Myanmar security forces.
