Deputy FM rejects Netanyahu's claims about Iran's plans in Syria

FNA- Iran does not at all mean to establish an everlasting presence in Syria and Lebanon after driving the ISIL out of the region, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari said after recent allegations by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Iran is trying to fill the vacuum created after defeating the terrorists in region.

"Since the start of the crisis in Syria and other crises in the region, the Islamic Republic of Iran has pursued the stable policy of putting an end to these crises fast and it attaches importance to stopping crimes against humanity by the terrorists and extensive terrorism and extremism in the region, opening a political horizon to help the involved parties to come out of the critical situation, and restoring stability and security in the region," Jaberi Ansari told reporters after meeting UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura in Tehran on Monday.

He dismissed Netanyahu's allegations, and said, "We are not after taking anyone's place and believe that the regional nations are the owners of their lands and will take the charge to manage their country."

His remarks came after Israeli prime minister expressed concern over what he called as Iran's attempts to fill the void left by the territorial retreat of ISIL.

Netanyahu visited the Golan Heights last Tuesday with Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman and Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot for briefings with Israels Northern Command.

Netanyahu took the opportunity to warn of what he called the threat posed by Iran and Hezbollah, saying, The reality here is changing rapidly. ISIS (ISIL) is in retreat, and Iran is trying to fill the void Iran and Hezbollah have created a northern arc with the help of precision weapons, and we are dealing with the new threats against the State of Israel."
