Fate of all joint oil, gas fields decided by 2021: Min.

SHANA - Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh says the fate of all of Iran's joint oil and gas fields will be determined by the end of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's second term to 2021.

Speaking to state media on Sunday, the official said enhancing production of Iran's oil and gas fields as well as adopting enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and improved oil recovery (IOR) methods for boosting production of the fields are top on his agenda in President Rouhani's cabinet in his second term in office.

He predicted that the fate of all of Iran's joint oil and gas fields will be decided by the end of Mr. Rouhani's second term.

"It might be that they will not be fully operational by then, but their developed projects will have begun by the end of the second Rouhani administration," he said.

Parliamentarians on Sunday nodded Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh's reappointment in President Rouhani's cabinet.

The parliament held a confidence vote on Sunday during which it reaffirms Mr. Zangeneh's stay in office in President Rouhani's second term.

The lawmakers cast 230 votes for Rouhani's pick for petroleum ministry and 35 against votes.

The legislature started debating the credentials of the 17 nominees on Tuesday. The debate continued on Wednesday and Thursday, and then on Saturday, Presstv reported.

The entire proceedings were broadcast live in the Iranian national TV as it was demanded by the parliament.

Rouhani won re-election back in May. He took the oath of office earlier this month after being formally endorsed as the Iranian chief executive by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
