FNA - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi stressed that Tehran will stand against and thwart Washington's plots to violate the 2015 nuclear deal at Iran's expense.

"We will not allow the Trump administration to violate the nuclear deal at Iran's expense," Qassemi said in an interview with the state TV on Monday night.

"I think that Europe and the world community will support Iran to this end," he added.

Describing the nuclear deal as a global agreement compiled by several world actors, including the EU and the UN, Qassemi said, "If the US shows disloyalty to the deal, it will be isolated."

His remarks came after Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in Tehran on Saturday warned that US President Donald Trump is attempting to make Tehran pay the price for Washington's intention to discard the 2015 nuclear deal.

"The new US administration doesnt want the Islamic Republic of Iran to use the benefits of the nuclear deal and this is considered as violation of the letter of the agreement. Mr. Trump is attempting to discard the nuclear deal at Iran's expense and Europe is required to keep vigilant about this," Zarif said during the meeting.

He also referred to Iran's missile tests and its launch of a new satellite, and stressed that they are no way in violation of the resolution 2231 of the UN Security Council.

Zarif also blasted Britain, France and Germany for accompanying the US in issuing a statement against Iran's recent satellite launch, describing it as a move in the wrong direction.

Mogherini, for her part, reiterated the EU's firm support for the nuclear deal, adding that all the European countries share the same position.

In relevant comments last Wednesday, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani warned that Washington has hatched plots to make Tehran pay the costs of the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal.

"The US is after withdrawal from the nuclear deal at Iran's expense and certainly we will not give this opportunity to the country. Of course, this doesnt mean maintaining the nuclear deal at any cost," Shamkhani said.

He underlined that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the nuclear deal) is valuable if all sides respect and implement it and the deal bears the same benefits to all signatories.

"In the political field, 5 countries (Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany) have practically stood against the US and all of them have clearly or implicitly consider the US as violator of the nuclear deal and this is a political achievement for Iran gained at the lowest cost," Shamkhani said.

President Trump last Wednesday morning signed legislation imposing sanctions on Russia, Iran, and North Korea, according to the White House.

His signature caps a months-long process of passing a sanctions bill that started in the Senate as an effort to rein in Iran, but quickly expanded to target Russia.
