Veep: US' sanctions on Iran, Russia are condemned, unjustified

IRNA The First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said here on Saturday that the US' sanctions on Iran and Russia are condemned and unjustified.

Jahangiri made the remarks in a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sarkissian, who is here to attend President Hassan Rouhani's swearing-in ceremony.

The Veep said, 'The new and unilateral US' sanctions on Iran and Russia are condemned and unjustified and under such conditions, using Eurasia capacity can help solve problems facing certain countries, especially Iran and Russsia.'

He said, 'Sanctions made us think of self-sufficiency and today, we have been capable of attaining self-sufficiency in production of certain agro products like wheat.'

He referred to certain minor impediments in the agreement for Iran's free trade with the Eurasian Economic Commission members and said except certain minor issues, the two sides have reached agreement on majority of issues and a sub-committee, comprising the two sides, need to be formed to exchange views and remove differences.

He said, 'Today, we lie under special conditions and the new and unilateral US sanctions on Iran and Russia are condemned and unjustified.'

Sarkissian for his part voiced pleasure with talks between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Commission on free trade agreement and hoped that the agreement will soon be finalized and be readied for signature.

Also pointing to certain differences on minor issues, he emphasized talks and more negotiations by their experts and technicians to lift likely impediments.
