US moves to end Iran nuclear deal threaten relations with Europe, Asian allies

Sputnik News- Reports that President Donald Trump is looking to halt US participation in the Iran nuclear deal would place Washington at odds with nations that have since reopened business ties with Tehran, according to a report by the private intelligence firm Soufan Group on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) The report cited indications fromthe White House thatTrumpis ready tocharge Iran withnoncompliance, which Soufan predicted would likely prompt Iran toabandon its commitments and resume efforts tomake nuclear weapons.
"Many major non-US companies have re-entered theIranianmarket sincesanctions againstdoing so were lifted inJanuary 2016," the report said.

The report goes onto explain that a US withdrawal would "almost certainly" prompt Congress toreimpose additional sanctions onIran.

That, inturn, could force nations, including those inthe agreement Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia toinstruct their companies not tocomply withUS sanctions, the report said.

US law requires the president tocertify that Iran is incompliance withthe agreement every 90 days, withthe next deadline inOctober.
