Iran eyes petchem deals with Int'l majors soon

Shana -- A senior Iranian petroleum official says the country is about to sign several deals with international companies for developing petrochemical projects.

Following a meeting with executives from Germany's industrial gases company Linde on Tuesday, Amir Hossein Zamaninia, deputy petroleum minister in international affairs and trading, underlined the "very favorable" progress made in talks with leading international companies for developing projects in Iran, especially European ones, adding the presence of energy majors like Total, Shell and German firms in Iran can herald arrival of new investments and technology transfer to the country's petrochemical industry.

He said foreign companies stress long-term presence in OPEC-member Iran, adding talks are going on with them.

Enjoying Iran's favorable geographical situation, abundant feedstock and skilled labor, competitiveness, stability and security are some of the advantages of investment in the country for foreign companies, the official added.

During their Tuesday meeting, Zamaninia, and Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei discussed cooperation with Linde in major petrochemical projects in Iran.

Also in the meeting, Zamaninia voiced Iranian Ministry of Petroleum readiness to support international energy and chemical majors in Iran.
