Co-op with independent EU states, effective on int'l security

IRNA As the spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry says, cooperation with the independent European countries will be effective in ensuring the global security at the present conditions.

Negotiations with the independent European countries can influence the conditions while the US government has disarranged all standard norms in the world, Bahram Qasemi told IRNA on Thursday.

Qasemi made the remarks elaborating on Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarifs European tour that started from Berlin on June 26, then to Rome. As the spokesman said, Zarif is to visit Paris on Thursday.

Pointing to Irans long-lasting relations with the European countries of Germany, Italy and France, Qasemi said ties with the three countries have been continuing in all areas.

Tehrans ties with Berlin, Rome and France have always been based on mutual respect and noninterference in the internal affairs of each other, the diplomat noted, adding the three European countries have never had a negative or colonial record in Iran.

During his European tour, the foreign minister is to hold talks with top officials of the three countries on the banking, economic and political cooperation, Qasemi noted.

Before the unjust sanctions imposed on Iran by the UN Security Council, the volume of Irans trade exchange with each of two European countries of Italy and Germany was seven billion euros, Qasemi noted.

Now, he said, there are capacities for boosting relations again after the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions on January 26, 2016.

About Irans situation in the region, Qasemi said none of the regional countries and no markets in the region are as stable and secure as Iran, and the European states well know it.

Turning to the critical conditions of the region and the necessity of fighting terrorism which has also targeted the Europe, Qasemi said the travel of Zarif to the European countries to hold talks on the regional security that will affect the stability in Europe is of paramount importance in the present era.

The developments in Syria and the need for continuation of the hopeful direction towards peace in which first moved by Iran, Russia and Turkey make the negotiations between the Iranian foreign ministers and his European counterparts inevitable, Qasemi underlined.

Asked about Zarifs Paris visit, Qasemi said it will be important as the new French President Emmanuel Macron has been elected recently after a meaningful election.

Europe today can count more on the independent and stable Iran, Qasemi stressed.
