Navy to stage 25 drills by March 2018

MNA Commander of Irans Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said Tue. that up to 25 naval exercises have been planned to be staged by March 2018.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari maintained that the naval exercises will be held in various specialties and on the sea and the north and south coasts, ultimately leading to the massive Velayat-96 naval drills.

Irans biggest naval military maneuver, code-named Velayat-95, was held in the north of the Indian Ocean in February 2017. Velayat-94 military maneuvers were staged in January 2016 across a large swath of territorial waters and high seas in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Indian Ocean.

Sayyari stressed that the Navys military equipment is up-to-date and manufactured by Iranian experts, adding for example, domestically-built Damavand Destroyer has come successfully on stream in northern Iran and is currently being used on seas. Other missile cruisers are currently under construction and hopefully we will continue on this path with firm resolve.

Our objective is to train experts who can carry out Navy's critical missions, especially in the high seas and among various countries, to bring the country great honor and security, he added.
