IRNA � Senior Lebanon�s Hezbollah official says the roadmap created by Imam Khomeini, late founder of the Islamic Republic, has largely contributed to formation of the Resistance movement in Lebanon.


Sheikh Naim Qasim, Lebanon�s Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General, made the remarks at a ceremony held here on Friday in commemoration of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini.

Talking about the late Imam�s characteristics, Qasim said he made �a fundamental leap in the region� and �encouraged us to be united and move towards Resistance.'

The Hezbollah leader then went on to denounce Saudi atrocities in Yemen.

Being in the neighborhood of Kaaba and publishing a large number of copies of the Holy Quran cannot compensate for their crimes against the oppressed Yemeni people, Qasim said, referring to the Saudis.

Yemeni people who just want dignity and freedom are being killed before the eyes of the global community, said he adding ��, but no sound comes out of the (so-called) civilized and democratic globe.�

Sheikh Qasim further referred to the issue of Palestine which was Imam Khomeini�s priority.

The late Imam removed the Palestine issue from the encirclement of the Arab rulers, the Hezbollah official stressed.

He also appreciated the Bahraini people for peacefully seeking their rights and called on regional nations to foster cooperation among themselves to bring peace and security.

In the Friday ceremony, which was held in Beirut to mark the 28th death anniversary of late Imam Khomeini, Lebanese governmental and military officials, members of political parties in the country as well as Muslim and Christian figures were also present.
