Missile program Iran's defense redline: Govt spox

IRNA -- Iran's missile defense program is an unchangeable policy, Government spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said.

Nobakht made the remarks on the sidelines of the Tuesday Majlis open session and in response to a question on the missile defense program of the country.

National interests rely on national security and the Islamic Republic of Iran maintains the policy of deterrence, Nobakht addressed the session.

The more powerful our defense capacity, the safer the internal and the regional security will be, he said.

Answering a question on Irans missile activities and its contradiction to Irans nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he said that Iran has no plan for withdrawing its policies to this end.

He went on to say that some world powers are attempting to show Irans defense program as a source of concern for the neighboring countries.

Regarding Irans missile program and in order to foil those fraudulent inducements leading to Iranophobia, we should hold negotiation with neighbors, he noted.

Commenting on a question on US President Donald Trump's trip to the Middle East, he said that his tour aims at earning money.

Iran will not take a passive stance and we dont see Trumps trip as a political event and we consider it as unimportant, Nobakht said in response to a question on Iran's plans to confront Saudi Arabia's anti-Iran remarks.
