Iran eyes big gas projects

Shana -- The head of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company has said that plans were under way for major gas projects in the country.

Hassan Montazer Torbati said the company would be implementing projects worth IRR 40,000 to IRR 50,000 billion in coming years. He said IRR 30,000 billion of projects were carried out in the last calendar year to March.

He said that the lifting of sanctions on Iran facilitated the financing of projects, mainly in the form of build-operate-transfer (BOT).

He added that in the last calendar year more than 700 kilometers of pipeline and 24 turbocompressors were installed, much above the annual average of 300 km of pipeline and 10 compressors.

Torbati said over the past three years, more than 50 billion liters of liquid fuel were saved thanks to gas supply to power plants and industrial plants.
