Iranian delegation arrives in Kazakhstan for Syria talks

IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari heading a delegation arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan on Tuesday to attend the fourth round of Astana talks on establishing peace in Syria.


Negotiations are slated to be held on Wednesday and Friday but the expert talks are expected to be held today.

The first round of multilateral Astana talks initiated by Iran, Russia and Turkey, was attended by the Syrian governments representatives as well as dissident groups.

The second round of the Astana talks took place with the participants agreeing to set up a ceasefire monitoring group assigned by Iran, Russia and Turkey, that would report to the United Nations.

The third meeting involving the Iranian, Russian and Turkish and the UN delegations was held while the US and Jordan participated as observers.
