FNA- A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps underlined Iran's undisputed power in the Persian Gulf, and said the US warships and vessels take permission from the IRGC Navy to sail through the Strait of Hormuz.

"Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran is so much powerful that we dont value even a penny the power of the US which is considered by some people as the symbol of power," Commander of the IRGC Navy's Fourth Zone Admiral Mansour Ravankar said on Sunday.

"The IRGC Navy is every day facing the Americans and they should take permission from us when it intends to sail through the Strait of Hormuz," he added.

IRGC Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami had in 2016 warned the US to avoid crisis escalation, and said the Iranian Armed Forces would stop and block the passage of any vessel that they deem as a threat in the strategic Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.

"Based on the United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), 1982, Iran will decisively confront any menacing passage through the Strait of Hormuz," General Salami said.

He pointed to the US presence in the region, and said, "We warn the Americans not to repeat their past mistakes and they should learn from historical realities."

General Salami also reiterated that Iran will not give in to restrictions from any power in the world with regard to conducting military drills, and said, "It is Irans legal right to hold military exercises according to its strategic plans."
